The Short Winter Trek - Ghorepani and Poon Hill

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the popular short trekking destinations in Nepal. It is a 7 days short trek (depending upon your schedule) to the famous viewpoint Poon Hill. Popular amongst families, couples, and groups, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is also a perfect way to experience trekking in Nepal in a short period.

With one of the best short treks in Nepal, you are bound to get the best experience! Located at a height of 3,210m (10,532ft), Poon Hill is one of the best vantage points to see a part of the southern Annapurna Himalayan range, including Mt. Annapurna I 8,091m (26,545ft), and Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167m (26,795ft)! Furthermore, during the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, we plan to take you there during the sunrise for an even more memorable moment. You can take a different route than the traditional trek which takes you also to the healing hot water springs of Jhinudanda. Here you can take a relaxing dip in the healing waters and relax your body and mind. Our last stop during the trek is a visit to the Gurung settlement of Ghandruk. Here the views are serene and we can take a look at the local Gurung museum for a cultural aspect of the trek. From here we trek down to Kimche where we can take transportation back to Pokhara and ultimately back to Kathmandu.

Culture, activities, a short trek, and seeing some of the highest mountains on the planet are all included in the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, and as with many treks in Nepal, this can be made shorter or longer depending on your preferences. You are in for an adventure!

Things to Know:

Maximum Elevation:  The maximum elevation of the trek is 3210m (10,532ft) high from sea level which is the viewpoint Poon Hill.

Transportation: From Kathmandu, you can take a flight or a local/tourist bus to Pokhara. After reaching there, you can opt to stay overnight or you can take a taxi, jeep, or local bus to Nayapul (the trekking starting point) depending upon your budget.

Accommodation and Meals: It is one of the easier treks so, there are lots of tea houses and lodges along the trail for your accommodation where they provide you with a traditional Nepali food Dal-Bhat. Other things like snacks, chocolate, and cookies you can take from the city or you can buy them at the tea house (depending upon availability).

Best Season: Nepal is a country full of mountains and nature, so you can travel to Nepal for the whole 365 days of the year. However, considering the weather conditions, March to May and September to December are the perfect time to trek in Nepal.

Trek starting and ending points: Normally, the trek starts from Kathmandu and ends at the same as the starting point. i.e. Kathmandu.

Trekking Route: Kathmandu-Pokhara-Tikhedhunga-Ghorepani-Poon Hill-Chuile-Jhinudanda-Landruk-Ghandruk-Kimche-Pokhara-Kathmandu
