The Mardi Himal Trek lies in the Annapurna region of Nepal, a quieter and less-traveled route compared to popular treks in the area, such as the Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Around, Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu Circuit, and the Everest Base Camp trek. The trek takes its name from Mardi Himal, a relatively untouched peak in the Annapurna range with a height of 5,587 meters (18,331 feet).
Scenic Beauty: The trek is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty, including lush
forests, rhododendron groves, and charming landscapes. As trekkers ascend, the
views of snow-capped mountains, particularly the iconic Mt. Machhapuchhare
(Fishtail) with a height of 6,993 meters (22,943 feet) and the Annapurna range, are simply awe-inspiring.
Less Crowded: One of the major attractions of the Mardi Himal Trek is its tranquility. It's less frequented than other trekking trails in the region, providing a more serene environment and peaceful trekking experience. Trekkers can relish the beauty of nature without the crowds often found on more popular routes.
Cultural/Religious Experience: The trek offers encounters with local villages and their inhabitants, providing a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the different groups of people including, Gurung, and Magar communities. Trekkers get the chance to engage with the locals, experience their hospitality, and learn about their unique lifestyle, culture, and customs.
Varied Environment: The trek
encompasses a variety of terrains, from terraced fields and charming villages
to dense forests and alpine landscapes. This diversity makes the journey
engaging and visually stunning.
The Mardi Himal Trek typically takes around 6 to 8 days, depending on the chosen route and the pace of the trekker. The trek begins from Kande and goes to Pothana, Australian Camp, Deurali, Low Camp, High Camp, and ends at Siding village. Ascend through forests, villages, and terraced fields with a stunning view of the Annapurna Range. The high point of the trek is the Base Camp of Mardi Himal at an altitude of around 4,500 meters (14,763 feet).
The optimal time for the Mardi Himal Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to December). These seasons offer the best weather and visibility, allowing trekkers to fully appreciate the stunning mountain views and enjoy the trekking experience.
